The annual IKEA Soft Toys for Education Campaign
is going strong! Running from November 4 through December 29, 2012, one
euro ($1.30) will be donated to UNICEF and Save the Children for every IKEA
soft toy sold, to help children around the world gain access to a quality
education. Sweet, adorable soft toys range in price from 49 cents to
$19.99, will delight and also be a great gift that gives back. Since the
start of the Soft Toys for Education program in 2003, IKEA has raised more than
$61 million, helping over 8 million children through 70 global programs.
IKEA US plans to raise a total of $1.2 million toward this global campaign. IKEA Atlanta is confident in its goal to raise $175,000 of the US goal, selling more than 35,000 soft toys and kids books for which one euro will also be donated from each book sold.
IKEA Atlanta has contributed more $175 thousand to this total since 2005 including donations of soft toys to local charities (Toys For Tots, For The Children Inc, For The Kid In All Of Us, Atlanta Children’s Shelter and more) to ensure this effort impacts children in our own back yard. On November 13th IKEA Atlanta initiated a random act of life improvement by surprising 295 children in need at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston with more than $2500 in soft toys. IKEA Atlanta is also taking toy donations for CHILDREN’S HEALTHCARE OF ATLANTA AT EGLESTON and THE CITY OF REFUGE inside the store until December 15th.
